Alert is a carefully researched, replica Smuggling Boat as used in the 1830s. She has been designed with complete reference to contemporary plans held at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich and the Science Museum.  She was built, clinker, Larch on Oak, by Stirling and Son, Devon, in 2007.

She has a two masted Lug rig with Sails by James Lawrence Sailmakers and Galvanised standing rigging.  

She offers up to five berths and has a Yanmar 3JH4 40hp marine diesel engine.

Alert's maiden voyage was to North East Iceland in 2007.
