Owner's Comments
The purchase of Ambassador was the achievement of a retirement ambition. She was primarily purchased for her live-aboard qualities. I always had a liking for the Dutch steel motor sailor and for the money I remain completely satisfied as to the value of my original purchase and costs of renovations. She has an excellent powerful Mercedes Diesel and solid sailing qualities to meet my personal requirements. Her inventory is good and whilst some of her fitments are now a little dated, she is very seaworthy and provides an excellent platform for coastal and inland waterways travel. One of the major considerations for me was her acceptability to my spouse and I am pleased to say that for the majority of my ownership, this goal has been achieved. I have done very little work under sail, but in this respect, she does handle entirely satisfactorily within the confines of her motor sailor specifications. My reason for selling her is, I’m afraid, a reasonably common one i.e. my advancing years. I believe that Ambassador is a lot of yacht for not a lot of money, and I am confident she would provide any new owner with years of happy yachting. Ambassador provides a first class base for “living alongside” and therefore would be of interest to both the serious yachtsperson and the holidaymaker / occasional sailor. My wife and I have lived aboard, (primarily alongside), for months at a time, have accommodated able-bodied friends and elderly relatives alike and to date all have enjoyed their stay. Over the time I have owned her, we have replace all lines, repaired sails, replaced upholstery and curtains, fitted roller reefing, provided new fenders, fitted biminis, repainted over-all, fitted fish finder and generally repaired and replaced whenever and whatever has been necessary. Most of all, we have tried to make her our second home.
Since owning Ambassador we have normally travelled under power and have visited surrounding coastline and islands etc. She motors easily at 7 knots, provides a good aft deck, for those gin and tonics, and is normally berthed” stern to”. Ambassador is currently lying on a private mooring in Palma & the arrangement with the moorings owner is that it is secured until Dec 2006. However there can be no guarantee that the mooring will be available to any new owner of Ambassador but every assistance will be given to assist Ambassadors new owner to retain the existing mooring or to obtain a suitable alternative mooring. It must also be stressed that the cost of any such mooring is not included in the asking price. |
