Athena O in Baltimore '98

Athena O is a British Registered Sterling Class long keel sloop designed by C.R. Holman and built by Uphams in Brixham in 1964.

Constructions is Mahogany topsides Pitch Pine bottom planking, sheathed ply decks and Burma Teak superstructure. She has a long Iron keel and transom hung rudder with tiller steering.

Approximate Dimensions

Propulsion under power is by Yanmar 2GM 20 2.2DL diesel engine fitted by French Marine, Brightlingsea in 1993.

Her keel bolts were replaced with new wrought iron keel bolts by Irons Brothers of Wadebridge at Falmouth marina in 1992.

Her mast and rigging were replaced by Sailspar of Brightlingsea in 1998. Sailspar headsail reefing was fitted in 1999.

She provides four berths in two cabins, with the usual heads, galley and navigation table.

Athena O has been largely professionally maintained, regardless of expense, and has undergone considerable upgrading and renewal.

From her base on the East Coast she has taken her owners as far as Ireland and Denmark.
