The Barbary Ketch is a heavy displacement, long keel motor sailer. Her shape and displacement give her a sea kindly motion, her wheel shelter gives protection from the elements and her powerful 42 hp Mercedes diesel gets her home quickly when the wind drops or the tide turns foul.

Here is a video, taken a few years ago to try out a new mobile phone camera (Nokia N8) on a trip up the North Sea from Brightlingsea to Ipswich. Barbary Rose is sailing down wind in a 5/6 under her Raymarine Autopilot.
