This Barbary Ketch, Barbary Rose, designed by Walter Rainer, was built by Southern Boat Builders of Southampton in 1972. Her hull, below the waterline was epoxied as a preventative measure in the late 1990s. Her topsides were painted around the same time.

She has a traditional long keel with internal encapsulated Iron ballast. There are therefore no keelbolts.

RYCO Oostende

She has Bamar in-mast mainsail reefing, Sailspar headsail reefing and Lazy jacks and a stack pack on the Mizzen. She comes with electric anchor winch, self-tailing sheet winches, Eberspacher heating, hot and cold pressurised water, black water holding tank, refrigerator, Raymarine GPS Chartplotter and Radar, gyro autopilot, wind speed and direction log and depth. Her Treadmaster on decks was replaced ~2005. All windows removed and serviced 2005.
