Builder's Comments
The plans for this new sloop have been specially prepared for us by designer C. R. HOLMAN, to combine ease of handling with comfort and speed. A large cockpit for sailing does not intrude upon the spaciousness of her cabin with its 6 ft. headroom. Accommodation is provided for four people and allows for a large galley, separate W.C. compartment together with ample locker and hanging space. A simple yet strong construction of high specification and good craftsmanship ensures a long trouble-free life whilst new materials reduce maintenance problems. J. W. & A. UPHAM LTD. BRIXHAM DEVON Owner's Comments
We fell in love with Cantare as soon as we saw her. She is everything a classic wooden boat should be — elegant, well built and a good sea boat. Her excellent pedigree and careful owners have kept her young and she has served us well during the last 3/4 years.
During our ownership she has been kept in Brightlingsea — ashore during the winter and on the pontoons during the season. Her engine has been regularly maintained by Denis Beeston. Her engine was removed two years when the last keel bolt was removed and replaced by John Brett. The engine mountings were replaced at the same time. The upholstery has been replaced, new rudder fitted, new covers for the sail, tiller and boat, new aerial, transducer and wind indicator fitted. |
