Cloche D'Or
|
Owner's Comments![]() I was attracted to Cloche D'Or because of her classic wine-glass shape and her sailing ability. She was a restoration project which has taken ten years and I have spent a fortune on her! We have sailed all over the East Coast both North and South from the Firth of Forth. She sails comfortably with three adults on board and is able to carry stores for three for three weeks in comfort. She comes into her own in force four upwards and thrills in a five / six. In an eight, she was scary at first but, well reefed, she charged along effortlessly. With the right sails she is well balanced and holds her course superbly. Under power, she will cruise at 3/4 revs, comfortably, at 5 to 5.5 knots. Under sail in a force 4-5 it is reasonable to expect 6 knots. She has turned out to be very sea kindly and has a safe feel to her, particularly in heavy weather. D'Or is moored on a swinging mooring and it is regular practice to both leave and return to the mooring under sail; engine is only used when on passage (not enough wind) and for entering and leaving marinas. My young daughter of 13 and grand children all sail the boat and my 13 yr old can happily helm whilst on watches. D'Or has proved to be a safe craft to take my grandchildren out in. |
