Engine
The engine is a Dolphin marine 12hp petrol engine. Although 2 stroke, this is still a modern production unit and, for its size, it produces ample power, easily driving the boat at 6 knots at half revs. The fuel tank gives a range of 40 miles and this is supplemented with plastic fuel canisters which can double this. The engine was removed, serviced, painted and the electronic components tested at the manufacturer's factory (Bodmin), then reinstalled in 2006. The engine is very quiet and produces virtually no vibration, unlike diesel engines, and is of course much more compact and lightweight. All the fuel lines for the engine were also replaced when it was reinstalled in 2006.
