"Dorienne" Wing 25, Lying Essex
PBO, April 1994: -
I find her a biddable and predictable boat which will take an owner anywhere in the world provided he or she is up to it. Speed is respectable: 4-ish knots in a F3 and about 6 knots in a reaching F5. The Wing will stand up well to her canvas, and is stiff and stable - once she's over and into her groove. There always will be boats which point higher, go quicker and which cost more than the Wing. The thing is to sail well and to enjoy the water. Nevertheless you will see some yachts struggling and failing to keep up with her.
Under engine things are fine. The Wing throws water aside beautifully and gives a comfortable ride. As far as were concerned the Wing is a thoroughbred, vice free yacht.

The current owner bought Dorienne in 1999 when she was fitted with an air cooled Lister diesel engine. He replaced this with a re-conditioned Yanmar 1GM 6.5hp diesel during May/June 2000 along with new prop shaft, propeller, bearings etc.
He has used her for local coastal sailing on the East Coast and Essex rivers. He has now bought a larger boat.
Her previous owner had taken her across the North Sea and the English Channel to France on many occasions.
Her interior is very attractively fitted out and includes many ingenious and practical ideas. With her heavy displacement and long keel configuration she will have a steady motion and be easily manageable under most conditions.
