Sails and Deck Gear

Carvel Folkboat, Helios

The mast is a Kemp “classic” mast built for a Folkboat ¾ rig. The boom is a Selden rigged for single line reefing lead back to the cockpit. A Selden gas strut kicker was fitted in 1998 and the line for this was also lead to the cockpit. The rigging is stainless steel and last inspected in 2006. The halyards for main and jib are also lead to the cockpit to two Lewmar  winches and Spinlock jammers.

The main was made to measure for the rig by Sanders sails of Lymington the country’s leading maker of sails for Folkboats. It was  made in expensive classic cloth in cream . A custom designed spinnaker was also made by Sanders in 2006. The furling headsail was fitted 2012
