HILDASAY - Shetland Yacht
A classic wooden boat with the lines and construction of the traditional double ended Shetland Sixaern at approximately 2/3 scale. 3 owners since new, the present dating from 1964.

LOD 24.5 ft. 5 ft bowsprit. LWL 21.5ft Beam 7ft , Draft 2.66 ft.
Displacement 4400 lbs Ballast 1500 lbs ( 35%) Sail Area 290 sq. ft.
Larch clinker planking, sawn softwood and oak frames. Pine laid deck Plywood cabin sides and coachroof. Gunwhales, toerail, rubbing strip, handrails and cockpit benches - all Iroko. Coamings etc. - mahogany. Mast and bowsprit pine and other spars spruce. Ballast - cast lead pigs under the cabin floor. 20% of the total on the keel.
Rigged as a Gaff/Gunter sloop or cutter. 5 sails in red Terylene ( 1985 to 2002 )
Cruising chute green and gold ( 2001 ). Headsails fitted with Wykeham Martin furling gear.
Standing rigging Stainless Steel. Running rigging Terylene. Bottle screws and shackles bronze or stainless steel. Sheet winches, deck tracks, cleats and most blocks Tufnol. Many lines led back to the cockpit with stoppers and camcleats to raise and reef the mainsail , set and lower the cruising chute , for the mainsail outhaul, boom yang etc..
Two settee berths with upholstered cushions in the cabin with sitting headroom throughout. Forepeak now occupied by marine WC and stowage for anchors and ground tackle. Shelves and lockers throughout the cabin. At the main hatch galley with stainless steel sink and fresh water pump from plastic water tank. Single burner stove with self contained gas cartridge. Opposite small chart table. Fire extinguishers, clock and barometer.
Wired throughout . Power from 85Ah battery charged by 20W solar cell and engine. Switch panel for bow, stern and masthead navigation lights, anchor light and 4 cabin lamps and for speed and distance log, wind speed and direction instrument and echo sounder. Radio/cassette broadcast receiver, electric bilge pump, navigation compass, Autohelm autopilot and VHF aerial but no VHF set.
CQR main anchor with chain, Bruce kedge with chain and warp Fenders, warps, spare sheets and halyards. Boathook, boom crutch cockpit tent and mainsail cover. In the cockpit, manual bilge pump and horseshoe buoy.
6 knots from new Tohatsu 6 hp outboard , ( 4 stroke) long shaft with sailing propeller and battery charger and less than 10 hours running time. 8 ft. Achilles inflatable completes the inventory.
Hildasay is in very good condition. with good recent survey and valuation of £6000. She is offered for sale for this sum. If the engine, dinghy, or any moveable items such as anchors, fenders etc. are not required a substantial reduction will be made.
There is also an almost unused 4 wheel road trailer made for Hildasay. Costing over £1800 (2000 ) it would be sold to the purchaser of the boat for a reasonable offer.
