Fisher Northeaster, Kastanango

The Fairways Northeaster was my dream boat and, while in Turkey, looking for a boat for my retirement, I found her in Bodrum.

She had been in the hands of an Austrian for nearly 20 years and in the yard in Bodrum all of his ownership. He used her for two or three months in the summer  and was stored ashore for the rest of the year.

Over the period of his ownership he had set her up for Mediterranean sailing with canopies and equipment for out of port mooring. The engine had been replaced in 1998.

I was working at NATO HQ Sarajevo, Bosnia at the time of purchase and over the first two years spent over 14,000 bringing her up to shape.

She sails and motors as you would expect a Fisher to perform. She is safe and dry and the word Fisher speaks for itself. With a full length keel you have to take your time going astern. She holds the ground well at anchor and takes the sea well.

All tools and spares are catalogued and stored in marked bags. There is probably over 1000 of tools and spares including a pressure washer and vacuum cleaner!

In short, she is in good shape and ready to provide a real treat for somebody to enjoy the Med at a reasonable price.

I cannot justify the cost in my current situation and intend to purchase a trailerable boat which I can use locally much easier.
