Sadler 25, Lady B

I bought Lady `B' in 2007 in a sound, but shabby state. I spent the next year fully refurbishing her at Fox's yard on the river Orwell. Just about everything was replaced and she was re-launched in May 2008.

Lady 'B's accommodation is very comfortable for two adults & two children, but Sadler's claim that she can sleep five is optimistic although possible. The table on the port side doubles as a navigation station, but can be dropped to form the base of a double bunk.

She is fast, remarkably seaworthy & perfect for single handing. A typical average cruising speed under sail is 4-5 knots but on many an occasion, with a brisk quartering breeze, I've seen a true 7 knots surfing through the water. Not bad for a LWL of 19 feet!

Last summer, on a return passage from the Blackwater to Harwich, I was caught out in a full force 7 (37-42 knots on the anemometer) with wind against tide. It was interesting! Not an experience to repeat, but at no time did I lack confidence in the boat I just got very wet while she played at being a porpoise!

She's been kept on a swinging mooring at Pin Mill from May until September when she is then lifted out and put under covers for the winter. She's been little used because most of my sailing is crewing on a classic Old Gaffer out of Maldon.
