"Lunan", Jouet 920 Lying Essex

The Jouet 920s were designed as fast cruiser-racers but provide a lot of comfortable accommodation. Her attraction was good performance, PY 1000, modified skeg and large comfy aft cabin. I bought Lunan five years ago. I had for some time been looking for a replacement for my Jaguar 27. I was looking for a yacht with good sailing performance and a comfortable double aft cabin. I also wanted a well equipped boat equally at home in club racing and for holidays. Oh, and with a price limit! Two out of three was easy but in Lunan I found all three. When I first saw Lunan I was impressed with the high standard of maintenance and the good specification of equipment. All electrics are to a high standard. The engine had been rebuilt by 'Frenchs' and in the time I have owned the boat none of the equipment has disappointed. (But talk to me about the depth sounder) During my ownership I have converted her to fresh water cooling, fitted a new fully battened main and new Genoa. The standing rigging was replaced by Sailspar a couple of years ago and running rigging need doing in the next year or two. I will fit a new engine battery before sale. Sailing wise, Lunan is good fun and competitive. She sails on a P.Y. of 1000 (although West Mersea are more generous with 1040). Unusually she has a full skeg on the rudder. This was professionally fitted to improve sailing performance and I have photo records. She has won outright both the Colne YC 'Cock of the River' series and the 'Series 2000'. Also several good results at other clubs. My wife and I have enjoyed many weeks away on Lunan with visits to Aldeburgh, Woodbridge, Ipswich, Manningtree, Burnham, the Medway and the Thames. She is easily handled by 2 people and very easy in marinas. We have enjoyed Lunan but are now moving to other projects. We can recommend her to you. |
