Nepenthe is a 3ft Gaff cutter built by Harry Feltham of Portsmouth in 1930. During her current ownership she has undergone extensive works to bring her up to her current high standard. But she has also been used. Her owners have lived on her for around six months each year, taking them to most of the ports between Cuxhaven and Cherbourg including all of the Frisian Islands, and the Dutch inland lakes. She can sleep up to 5 and has a coke stove for winter comfort.
Believed to be constructed of Pitch pine on oak frames, with a long iron keel, her Keelbolts have been checked / replaced by rotation over the years of her current ownership. She was fitted with a Lister Petter Alpha 40 4-cylinder diesel engine in 1993, It has been serviced regularly. Her sails have been serviced by Gowen's of West Mersea regularly.
