Marcon Tomahawk 25 - Ocean Brave

Owner's Comments

Ocean Brave is an excellent sea boat and is very well balanced - you can easily let go of the helm beating to windward in a F4. Her working sails and rig are over specified for a craft of this size giving us great confidence.

We have sailed her over much of the Essex Kent, and Suffolk Coasts and have been over to Ostend in her; we are always impressed by how well she takes the seas.

Builders Comments

Tomahawk was designed to incorporate the advantages of previous designs yet retaining individual style. The basic requirements were for a relatively fast family cruiser with standing headroom and five berths but still retaining the sleek flowing Ines which one associates with larger yachts. Her fine entry gives her a kindly motion in a seaway, combined with a fairly hard bilge amidships which increases stability. The sweptback fin keel gives maximum lift to windward with minimum resistance and wetted surface.

The full underbody between the keel and skeg reduces turbulence when the boat is heeled. She is full, well aft, which straightens the water line and improves her flow characteristics.
The accommodation layout was designed with comfort and practicality in mind.  Lockers pace under the berths are easily accessible and well planned.

Maintenance is kept to a minimum with a one-piece internal moulding.

Standing headroom has been achieved - but the yacht still retains a very sleek profile
The cockpit is well planned giving plenty of comfortable lounging space - coupled with good protection for offshore work.

Deck fittings are strong and well sited, going forward is simple with wide side decks and hand rails along the coach roof.

Sailing Today review summary

An attractive and good value small cruiser that performs well, especially in fin-keel form. The Tomahawk is fun to sail but also offers surprisingly generous accommodation
