The Builders say: -Heavy displacement; a quality rarely found on modern yachts, provides a comfortable dampened motion in a seaway and no uncomfortable rapid movements that are associated with lighter boats in heavy weather. The long keel provides direction stability that makes for tireless helming for man or autopilot. The Fisher sails as well as and better than some pure cruising yachts. Many long ocean passages have been made under sail; and in group boat tests and rallies the Fisher has always shown to be superior in most respects. Security in construction and design; encapsulated keels, very strong GRP laminates, decks bolted and bonded to the hull all go together to make the Fisher the strongest available. No skimping to save cost or marginal building to save weight. High bulwarks for security on deck with large freeing ports to quickly clear any water unavoidably taken on board, deep cockpits with high coamings, all self draining. Protected steering; the wheelhouse provides the most secure and comfortable place from which to pilot the vessel, protection from the elements in colder conditions, protection from the sun in hot climates and a second living area that gives all round visibility whether on passage or at anchor. Owner's CommentsAfter 2 years of miserable sailing weather in Scotland, I decided to buy a boat in the sunshine. I found Opuntia for sale in Spain and immediately flew out to see her.
I bought her there and then. My main requirements were a safe, reliable, comfortable boat with good headroom ( I am 6' 2") that I would trust to look after my family of wife and 3 children. Myself and three friends then took Opuntia from Alicante to Corfu 1200NM in ten days. Totally trouble free. We have since enjoyed 7 years of great holidays with no worries about tides or weather. Opuntia is in excellent condition for her year and will give her new owner many more years of sailing pleasure.
