Rhiannon has been extensively refitted over several years by the present and previous owners. The list below details the work carried out over recent years, much of it this year:
1995: Shore power installed. Reconditioned Perkins engines installed with shafts and props. New instrumentation. Fridge and heating installed.
1996/97: Wheelhouse rebuilt with new saloon cabin sides and roof extended to increase aft accommodation. New 12v wiring, battery switching and starter solenoids. New 75 Amp alternators fitted.
1998: Auxiliary circuits added and cabin lighting improved.
1999: Whitlock hydraulic steering system installed, rated at twice the normal safety factor. New fuel filters and piping. New windows throughout.
2001: Fresh water system. Mains ships circuits and battery charger, plus galvanic bonding and isolator. Vetus exhaust systems with new piping, traps and transom fittings. Maintenance refurbishment of hull and cabin sides.
2004: Major refit over a five month period. Hull repainted above and below the waterline. Transom stripped and varnished. Davits and fittings removed, repainted and refitted; tackles fitted to lift newly acquired Fairey Duckling sailing tender. All deck fittings, bulwark and toe rails removed. Old Trakmark deck covering removed and ply decks beneath made good. Decks then professionally sealed with epoxy resin and woven, glass fibre matting. Iroko rubbing strips and quadrants fitted to seal all edges around the hull and cabin. All bollards, fairleads, bulwarks, toe rails and cleats refitted with new stainless steel bolts. New stanchions and guardrails fitted. Decks painted in non-slip deck paint. Two replacement anodes fitted, with new shaft anodes and rope cutters on each shaft. Sample shaft “P” bracket bronze bolts removed for inspection and found to be good.
Bronze rudders cleaned and painted and propellers removed for burnishing and refitted with replacement locking grub screws. All seacocks removed, serviced and refitted with new bolts. Cabin and wheelhouse structure completely stripped and oiled. All windows removed, re-bedded and new beading fitted where appropriate. New aft hatch professionally made. New Bruce bower anchor and chain fitted; new CQR kedge, chain and warp installed. Mast stripped and varnished. New navigation lights wired up. New main switch panel and fuses fitted. New gas system installed with a Plastimo Neptune cooker fed from a vented gas stowage locker via a leak-detection meter.
Gas alarm installed. New toilet fitted. New fresh water pump fitted. Two new bilge pumps fitted . Engine room lights installed. Engines professionally serviced and new Morse cables fitted, together with new impellors and fan belts. Oil change carried out and replacement oil and fuel filters fitted. Stern glands re-packed. New compass fitted. All accommodation areas and lockers etc completely repainted and revarnished throughout, with new lockers and seat backs built in the saloon. New 5” thick saloon berth cushions fitted.
90 % work required was done by April 2005

As no full hull survey available, boat removed from water.
Hull taken down to bare wood & inspected . No damage to hull or caulking found. Primer, undercoats & anti fouling applied. Woodwork re -oiled externally. Some small items found in survey on purchase attended to e.g. some small soft spots at hood ends at transom repaired. Transom taken down to wood, sealed & re oiled. Leak in 2 windows repaired. 2 bent stanchions replaced. Slight softness on rudder shaft pintle cured. Soft wood at port side base of windscreen replaced.
2005: Windscreen wiper fitted. New DSC VHF fitted. New thrust paddle on speedo replaced. Brass nav lights front & rear fitted. Engines full service. Modified rear hatch entrance made - easy access from new teak transom steps & dinghy
2007: Sea legs designed & made by shipwright, fitted.
Stern tubes repacked. Full engine service. Decks repainted with new type of non slip deck paint, New mains connector fitted to outside of wheelhouse. During the year outer wood re oiled twice. Toilet light replaced
Boat engines serviced annually by qualified engineer, e.g., oil & filters & fan belts changed etc. New water in fuel filters fitted - never had a drop! Gas removed & replaced by spirit stove
Front electric bilge removed & replaced by large capacity hand pump (in heads where gas was) with long pipe for emergency pumping anywhere in boat, if electrics failed.
