Engine
The engine is a Volvo MD2, 15.5 bhp, (1964) driving a 3-bladed propeller which gives 6 knots. It is fitted with a Dynastart starter motor/generator, which charges the starting battery; and an alternator, which charges the general service battery. The exhaust is water-injected, with a lift-type silencer. The engine cover hinges up to give good day-to-day access; if better access is needed for maintenance the cover can be easily removed, the tool boxes on either side can be lifted out, and the whole doghouse sole can be lifted out, as can the companionway ladder. Everything is accessible. The gearbox is oversized for the power of the engine. There are three stainless steel battery boxes.
The engine can be hand crank-started.
