Owner's Comments

After a long search for a classic wooden boat in Italy, and abroad, I found Rondine II in 1996. In the end, Rondine II was the best option for her wonderful looking, fine condition and for incredible performance under sail. In fact she was built for regattas and her record of success is very large in her long history.

Iíve used Rondine II for regattas (classic boats events) but mainly for cruises all along the Mediterranean sea (from Greece, turkey to Spain). I didnít have any technical or navigation problems due to the strict and continuous maintenance performed.

Iíve sailed everywhere with kids and family crew.

Rondine II is a very safe boat, very balanced and stable on her course (you donít need to stay at wheel in calm sea, due to the long keel, too).

She sails very well under all conditions; the huge and fractioned sail surface allows to exploit any wind conditions, from 5 to 50 kts, with complete safety. the relevant displacement and the water lines assure a wonderful comfort even with rough sea, with very small tossing by the waves. She is perfect and more secure than modern vessels in heavy weather.

She manoeuvres very well under sail; sheís obviously slower than modern vessels and (like all classic long keel boats) is more difficult to drive it backward under power when mooring.

The speed range under sail are 7-10 kts, under power around 6-8.

Rondine ii has been used also for entertainment and shows: pictures for promotion of products, parties, political campaigns (Italian green party), Ö

Iím selling her as Iím planning to sail around the world.  For that reason I need a new boat which could afford those long sailings at a higher speed and with less maintenance needs.
