Starlight is a high quality refined cruiser, equally at home pottering up the river at a leisurely 5 or 8 knots , or hustling out to sea at 12 or 18 knots, (with a clean bottom up to 22 knots if you are in a hurry).
She has a very good standard of comfort, and if the weather turns foul can easily seat 6 passengers in the deck level saloon, all of whom have a decent view of where they are going. If the weather turns cold you can turn on the central heating; or if it gets too hot you can open the very large sliding sunroof and side windows.
Her semi-displacement hull makes her very sea-worthy, and inspires confidence in the most nervous of passengers.
Manoeuvring in marinas and other congested areas is very much simplified, as Starlight benefits by having both bow and stern thrusters and a large 4 bladed propeller, which provides immediate thrust, or braking.
Starlight in also ideal for a spot of fishing, as the main roof extends back almost to the line of the transom, providing shelter to the cockpit from both wind and rain.
Coupled with all her other attributes Starlight is extremely economical, with an average consumption rate of only 2 galls of diesel per hour throughout the season.
Accommodation is very good with either two singles or one large double in the fore cabin; a double in the middle cabin; and if required an extra double in the main saloon.
When your weekend, or holiday is over, there is no wrestling with canvas to close up the boat, you simply slide the saloon door shut and turn the key.
A word of warning, don't bring your wife to look at this boat unless you are seriously considering buying it, because it is the prettiest boat in the harbour, and she will want it.
Our only reason for selling Starlight is that anno domini has caught up with my wife and myself and that coupled with a gammy leg is seriously compromising my mobility.
